I’ve been putting this off for so long and had a quiet day and thought it was time.
I’m absolutely loving Nicolas Cage’s resurgence over the last few years, throwing himself into some of the most out there films I’ve seen for ages.
It wasn’t quite the rollercoaster of action and gore I thought it was going to be but it still hit a lot of the right spots.
So hold on tight! The premise for the film is that a town has made a pact with serial killer satanists who suicide pacted and resurrected into the animatronics of the kids apace they ran to protect the town and surrounding area from their murderous marauding. Phew!
They do this by offering up people that wouldn’t be missed, lone traveller, lost families, and this satiates the murderous lust of the animatronics.
This time though the no-name is a strange beast played by Nicolas Cage, and does he go for it. It really looked like he leaned in and had great fun.
A fun hour and a half romp of oily, bloody gore with little plot or, especially in the case of The Janitor, dialogue. A great distraction if you’re enjoying Cage’s latest work.
There was a definite hint that Cage may be Satan collecting souls owed to him, cleaning up loose ends, completing a contract, and taking a soul at the end that was his due.
