Kiwanuka by Michael Kiwanuka

This is the first album I randomly chose from the Mercury Prize list on the site, and oh my it is wonderful, after the first listen through I couldn’t believe how good it was and had it on repeat for all day.

What I couldn’t get over is how I missed out on this album until now as this feels specifically made for me.

From the very first track to the very last I was gripped by the soulful expression of love and yearning throughout, with great musicality and lyrics each song or intro built upon each other.

I couldn’t really pick any tracks that didn’t quite hit the spot for me as there often is in great albums, there is that one track that sort of jars, not in this album. In fact it is so good that it is now permanently in my Spotify library.

Therefore this is an album I would recommend listening from start to finish several times as it was meant to do as there is a feeling of story to the whole.
